Teaching

I teach philosophy, literature, politics, history, and criticism through rigorous conversation, close reading, and sustained attention to language, argument, and judgment.

My students range from intellectually ambitious children and teenagers to university-level students and beyond. Sessions are available online and in-person in Vienna and London.

Education today is increasingly standardised and technology-dependent. I focus on developing capacities that can’t be automated:

  • Intellectual independence

  • Historical understanding

  • Precision in thinking, speaking, and writing

My teaching draws on the traditions of classical liberal arts education while remaining sensitive to the complexities of the present. Students learn how to interpret, analyse, question, and articulate ideas clearly for themselves, rather than simply absorbing information.

Academic performance is, of course, important, but my aim is to cultivate depth, seriousness, confidence, and intellectual self-possession.
